The John Bull Hotel Suitcase

Allan Roy Walters, who took over the managership of the John Bull Hotel, Currie street, on Wednesday the 21st June 1950. He told police that a former employee had handed him a suitcase which had been in his bedroom. The employee had told Mr. Walters that the suitcase belonged to a man who had stayed at the hotel In 1945. The case contained letters, writing papers and ration cards. Papers in the case bore the name of J. Carlin. Abinga, via Marree, Central Australian Railways. Among the contents of the case was a pad on which there was some writing and the words "Omar Khayyam."
